Heading for a bruising

Halloween is fast approaching us and you know how much I love it. Well I do know that not everyone wants to through so much effort and money into it. So I thought I would try and make something simple that would go with any costume, even a fairy costume.

This was so quick and easy to make. All it is, is eye shadows in yellow, black, red, purple and blue. Even a cheap palette will have all of these colours. Now it's just time to make a bit of a mess where ever you want to place the bruise. A tip is to do the borders in yellow.

As I have said before, it can go with any outfit so easy peasy!

Also you don't have to have the bruises where I placed them.

Happy halloween!

Easy family art work

Good evening Glitterbugs,

As you may or not know, as well as loving make up, I also have a website about my love on crafts. Check me out on fb - glitz and brushes crafts.

Anyway today, I decided to make some new bedroom art using photos of my family. In this step by step guide I have used a pic from a magazine.

1: start my selecting a frame and then measure out a sheet of card for your background colour.
2: cut out your photo and trace it onto the main colour card (just the outline).
3: and of course, cut it out.
4: then simply glue it onto the background colour.

Easy as pie.

Dragonfly Lake Nails

I love nail polish, I could play with it all day.

There is something very relaxing about sitting down quietly and being creative.

I came up with this design after spending the day at my local park. Sitting all afternoon by the lake, watching the dragonflies zoom around

This was very simple and quick to do.

All you need is a background colour of your choice. I went for a sky blue.
2 different greens for the reeds and a white to highlight.
I used dragonfly and flower nail stickers on this design as it was quicker but they could also easily be done with a dotting tool.

Perfect for summer nails!

Simple: Eye make up remover

Well recently I ran out of eye make up remover and had to grab some quickly while out so I decided to go for this one.
I think most of us has seen the adverts on TV (I personally think that it looks like a load of woman in a cult but never mind).
It claims that it is kind to skin and nothing fake goes into it, so I gave it a go.

What the packaging states:
Smile, it's simple, our eye make-up remover is a perfect blend of active ingredients to effectively remove even waterproof mascara.
1 - vital vitamin, Pro-vitamin B5. Actively restores, softens and smoothes.
0 - No oil, non greasy.
0 - No perfume, No colour.
No unnecessary or harsh chemicals.
I really like the packaging that they use. All of their range is very simple, clean and fresh. It works really well with the brand that they are trying to prompt.

The eye make up remover itself has a lovely fresh smell to it. No its not from something made out of chemical, it is just a refreshing smell.
It is also as they say, very gentle on the delicate eye area.

I have been using this for around 2 weeks now, both day and night and I am impressed just how gentle it really is. I would say though that it is not any different to any other eye make up remover that I have used on myself.
Maybe I was expecting to much, I was expecting them to sparkle and look ........ well great. But they don't they just look clean.

I do have a slight problem with the claim that it removes waterproof mascara, well it does ........... in the end.
I wear a lot of mascara and I get so bored taking it all of at the end of the night so I want something that will get the job done quickly.
This doesn't.
I don't really wear waterproof mascara, so I was disappointed how long it took to take regular mascara off.
Maybe this is just my personal problem. I am always in a rush.

Its not badly priced, a few quid. But I think that their are better things out there if you are willing to spend a tad bit more money.

It is great for people with very sensitive skin but for everyone else, nothing exciting.

Question & Answer

Good evening!

Over time, people have been asking me some questions. I thought now would be a good time to answer some.

What make up item couldn't you live without?
It is a tough choice between my mascara and eyebrow pencil. Can I have both? pretty please.

Favourite brand of brushes.
I would would say Crown and Mac. Both have amazing brushes but they come at a cost. If you want something a little cheaper, then I would say No7. Some of there brushes are lovely.

What's your favourite glam item?
It would have to be my fake eye lashes without a doubt. I love them, the bigger the better. The other half thinks this is funny, but what does he know. x

Lipstick, tint or gloss?
It really depends on what im doing, but if I had to only have one then it would be ........ lipstick. Better choice of colours and well they can quickly change your look. I love brilliant colours, especially pink, purple and reds.

What is your cleansing routine?
Morning - eye make up remover, wipe off cleanser, toner, moisturiser and lip balm.
Evening - eye make up remover, wipe of cleanser, facial wash scrub, toner, night cream, dark circle under eye cream and lip balm.

How often do you wash your brushes?
If I am using them on other people, then every day as they collect dirt and bacteria. If it is on myself, then I am a bit bad and do them sometimes every other day but generally every day.
If you do it every day, it take hardly any time and they have that lovely clean feeling.

What do you use to clean you brushes?
Baby shampoo. Cheap, smells lovely and also as most brushes are made up of hair, I think that it works well. Just make sure to clean them fully.

Tips for great skin.
Cleanse, toner and moisturise and drink plenty of water.

Tips for making it more than a hobby?
Practice, practice, practice. Don't be afraid to try anything and don't give up.

Tips for looking after my make up?
  • I store mine in professional make up boxes.
  • Don't stick you finger in anything as bacteria grows and spreads quickly.
  • Don't keep make up for years. It does go out of date.  After 5 months, chuck it out.
What is your favourite brand of make up?
Mac is one of my all time favourites but you have to use what works with your skin. For instance, my mum love bourjois foundation and they work really well on her skin but I fine them too heavy on mine as I have dry skin. There is not point going for the big brands if they don't work on your skin, or they feel uncomfortable as people won't be impressed by what your wearing if it looks wrong.

Shimmer or matte?
mmm depends on the product.
Foundations and blushers - Matte
Eye shadows and highlighters - shimmer ( but use carefully, you don't want to look like a kids cartoon).

Very late nights out, how I do hide this in the morning?
Well there are a couple of things that you can do for a couple of does however, too many while start to show no matter what you do.
I suggest cleanse, tone and moisturise, make sure that eye brows are always kept in shape as these frame the face and will certainly help of these days. Use a good coverage foundation to even out the skin tone and apply concealer under the eyes to reduce the shadows. If you eyes aren't bloodshot or a bit pink, then white or peach (even better) on the water line helps perk up the eyes. Also curl lashes to make the eyes pop.
And importantly, when you can relax, grab yourself a good long sleep. Nothing beats it.

I have spots. Help!
DO NOT SQUEEZE, PICK OR TOUCH.
Drink lots of water, and apply some spot cream of your choice. Make sure that your hands are clean when you do this to stop getting more dirt on the spots.

Ok well I hope this has answered some of your questions. I will answer more at a later date

Neutrogena: Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash

What the packaging says
Cleanses deep into the pores and helps clear spots for visible clearer skin from day 1.
  • The unique formula with Microclear, a patented spot fighting technology, dissolves oil and helps reduce spot causing impurities to help clear skin from day 1.
  • With soft microbeads, it gently exfoliates dead skin cells and cleanses deep into pores removing trapped dirt, oil and make-up without over-drying your skin.
Skin is left soft, smooth and visibly clear.

I have always liked Neutrogena products as you can feel them working straight away and always feel lovely.

I use this facial wash mainly in the evening after I have removed my eye make up and cleanse my face. I use it at night because I think that it is verry imortant that the skin is truely clean before going to bed as this is the main time that the skin is resting and reparing itself. Also it is very quickly which is what you need when you want to collapse in bed.
I also regularly use this product in the morning if I am sort of time.

You use it just like any facial wash. Wet the skin first and then massage the wash into the skin. And then of course, rise of afterwards and pat dry.

The product is a light blue gel which contains dark blue beads which ccleanse the skin.
I have used many facial wash in the past and this one has been the most comfortable and affective to use. The beads are really gently and don't irritate the skin, you can bearly feel them.

My skin always feels clean and smooth, you can actually feel your skin breathing.
Usually when I have used a facial wash, I need to apply a moisturiser straight after as my skin starts to dry out but with this one I don't need to. It doesn't dry the skin out which is a lovely change.
Of course I do still apply moisturiser afterwards but I don't have to rush as much.

I would strongly recommend this product to anyone. I am totally in love with it. My skin is truely glowing straight after the first use. Could not live without this.
This product is sutble for any skin type but I would strongly suggest it to people with dry skin as it is something that you can actually use without it affecting skin like so many do.

This retails at around £6-£7. A true miracle!!!!

Well hello Ms Cold

Well that lovely time of year is upon us. Mulled wine, Christmas tree and enough Mince pies to build a city and also ........... the common cold and for a lot, the flu.

I love make up. Playing with, applying, writing about, reading about, really anything but when I feel rough I really can't be bothered to apply my face but don't want to scare the public.

We have two choices here, either go for a full face which can take longer to deal with the puffy eyes and the rudolph nose, or go for the natural (my choice).

One thing that I have to keep to hand is: Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream
You know after going through miles and miles worth of tissues, that your nose will resemble as victim of a cheese grater. Peeling skin is a major No-No especially around the nose.
Apply a small amount of the cream on the effected area and ............. its gone rather quickly. I recommend before the peeling even starts, get into the habit of applying this. Flaky snouts are not sexy!

Make up
To combait the red nose. Well this is tricky because I don't really want to apply to much make up as most of it will end up coming off on your tissue after 10 minutes.  I like to go for a green correcter, my fav is from No7, and then apply concealer. I am really like the mousse concealer from Maybelline.
While tackling the nose, also remember to calm down your eyes as well with concealer. My eyes can look a bit puffy so try and contour a little or at least reduce the redness and dark circles.

If you have been keeping on top of the eyebrow plucking/waxing, then just tidy and go. I have very light eyebrows and dyed black hair so I need to add a bit of colour here. Only a slight amount. You want them to look tidy not done as they will look strange against the pale face.

Do Not apply white liner on the inside of your eyes. A lot of sneezing will leave the eyes slightly red and this will just be increased by highlighting them in white.

Time for the brown mascara. Brown will help define the eyes without making them really dark. I tend to apply it to just the top lashes but this is your choice.

A small amount of a creamy pale blush on the apples of your cheeks to help you look fresh faced.
But be careful, if your face is red from sneezing etc, then blusher can just add to the problem. In this case, I tend to miss blusher and stick to contouring my cheekbones with bronzer and highlighter.

Lastly, just a lip balm. This is your choice if you want a plain one or a tinted one. Either is great.

I know that it sounds a lot but it isn't. The main thing is to control the redness. So if you are happy, you can just do that step.
Oh course you don't have to wear make up at all if you are happy but this is for people like me who just want to conceal it a tad.

It is important to keep up with your cleansing routine. Even if this means using facial wipes and a moisturisers. Your body is busy fighting this infection so it needs a little help from you at this point.
I know, I know, you just want to go to bed but it will be worth it in the long run.

I hope you all get through this yucky stage quickly. Stay warm, keep your energy up with food, lots of fluid and rest.

See you on the other side

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick: 006 Pink Champagne

BARBIE LIPSTICK!!!

I am not usually the sort of girl to wear a pale lippy as I have very pale skin and black hair, I like to wear one that packs a punch. However, I love this lipstick.

Eventhough it is pink, it is a bright pink that goes beautifully with smoking eyes.

Firstly I love the name of it. Come on .Pink Champagne, what is not to love. It is very girlie.

I am a massive fan of Rimmel products, especially there lipsticks and this one doesn't let them down.

The packaging, is there usual minimal style with the Rimmel Crown engraved on the top of the lid.
This lipstick as a smell to it. Not the usual smell of a lippy but a sort of creamy sweet smell which just adds to the loveliness.
One application is all that is needed as it is rather thick when applied but it feels very comfortable of the lips.
Be careful of applying it to think because you can easily go from cute barbie to trashy.

With any lipstick, I always recommend using a liplock to help the staying power. As this is a pink colour, it can easily disappear without you realising.

This lipstick retails at around £7.
Super cute and worth every penny!

Boots Traditional Skin Care. Glycerin and Rosewater Toner

What the packaging says
Boots traditional Glycerin and Rosewatrer is a cooling, refreshing beautifier that softens and moisturisers the skin.

As anyone that has read my reviews will know, is that cleansing, toning and moisturising are very important to me as my skin changes so quickly.

When it comes to picking a toner, I want something that smells fresh, is light weight and leaves my skin calm.

I love the boots original range. They are really cheap compared to some of the other products on the market. I also keep coming back to this range again and again because it has been around for years. And if a product has been around this long then there must be something worth looking into.

I love the smell of this toner. even before using it I feel clean and refreshed.

I have been using this for ages and it has helped keep my skin blemish free and has improved my skin.

Also I advice keeping your toner in coolish place as I find that this helps with the refreshing feeling and helps calm any redness that may have occured during the day.

You can get this lovely toner at Boots (obv) and retails at around £3.
Great little pick me up.

Rimmel Fix & Perfefct Pro primer

What the packaging says
Skin-perfecting formula for 5-in-1 results:
  1. Smoothes
  2. Resurfaces
  3. Brightens
  4. Mattifies
  5. Protects
Prolongs foundation  wear (doesn't that make 6-in-1?).
Apply to clear skin. Wear alone or under foundation.

I can't go without a primer as I have combination skin which can change quickly, so primer is a must.

The product is a white watery cream which spreads easily onto the skin and does sink in, however it can take long than some primers.

Ok we will go one step at a time
  1. Smoothes - My skin did feel smooth after use but to be honest, I have quite soft skin anyway. At least it didn't feel tight or react to my skin. Very comfortable to wear.
  2. Resurfaces - Sounds scary if you ask me. Wouldn't say it resurfaced the skin.
  3. Brightens - I didn't notice a change in the brightness of my skin really.
  4. Mattifies - Well, to start with.....yes. But after a couple of hours, my make up was starting to slide.
  5. Protects - Its may do, it doesn't say that it has SPF in it so I am unsure of what it is actually protecting us from. Maybe the enviroment, but I don't it.
I would like to focus on point 4 - Mattifies. As I have said, my make up was starting to slide at 2 hours which could easily be touched up with power. After 8 hours, I looked like a total grease monkey. I touched my forehead and all make up was coming away without any problem and it looked and felt horrible. I am going to take a picture at some point so you can see how bad it was. I have never wanted to cleanse my skin in public before but I really wanted to today.
Ok the weather has changed in England but this would stop a primer working this much.

I am really sad about this product. I love Rimmel and it won't stop me using other products of theirs in the future, however, this is bad.

As I always say, this is just the reaction it had on my skin, it may work better on yours, but for me this is a total no go product.
Maybe if you have dry skin, this could be perfect but any oil at all, then stay clear.

Disappointed.

Retails at around £7.

There at  a lot better products out there.
